I have the deep honor of being the founder and publisher of Soul-O Travel Magazine with a loyal readership reaching 30,000. A platform created for the wild hearts, the deep feelers, and the curious souls who crave story over spectacle. Holding an MFA in Writing & Publishing and the proud Author of three published books. A certified crisis counselor, trauma-informed practitioner, and somatic healer, I bring a holistic, grounded approach to everything I create—from words on a page to the experiences I design. I’ve hosted transformational wellness retreats that help people reconnect with themselves, their stories, and their purpose.
Presently, I’m expanding my vision through Booth Brand & Company—a multidisciplinary platform where all my passions meet. Through curated retreats, powerful published works, the continued evolution of the magazine, and thoughtful press collaborations, Booth Brand & Co. is both a creative studio and a sanctuary for seekers, storytellers, and change-makers.
My practice emerges where world converge - between, healing, and human connection. The painful divide of word & witness. For most of my life, I was told I was too much—too sensitive, too intense, too honest, too full of feeling. But what they saw as too much was simply the depth they didn’t know how to hold. What they didn’t realize is that depth isn’t a flaw; it’s a force. The last few years I was forced to stop shrinking, accommodating, and fawning for the sake of survival. I stopped softening the edges of my story to make others comfortable. And I began the quiet, radical work of reclaiming my voice.
I chose to alchemize the stigma. Now, I wear my name—the name they tried to silence—as a banner, a brand, a bold return to self. Booth Brand & Company is both my signature and my sanctuary. A living archive of what happens when we turn our scars into stories, our shadows into strength, and our too muchness into art that moves. I turned my name into my brand—not out of ego, but out of reclamation. Soul-O is that reclamation in motion: a magazine for those who refuse to be silenced, diluted, or erased. Through words, images, and soul-stirring stories, we tell the truth. Beautifully, bravely, and unapologetically.

M. K. Martin is a Minnesota-born and raised author and editor. Her debut novel Survivors' Club was published in 2017. Her short stories appear in literary journals including 0-Dark-Thirty, Wanderlust, Barnstorm, Hunger Mountain, and in several anthologies. She received her MFA in Writing & Publishing from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2021.
Between Minnesota and Vermont, Martin was an exchange student in Paraguay, joined the Army, got deployed to Afghanistan and to Iraq, got a BA in Linguistics from the University of Oregon, and developed a deep love of tea.
